Japandi Living Room Pendant Light - Shibui

Why we picked it

The Shibui is the pendant we point to when someone wants the look of a paper lantern but softer and more sculptural. Each shade is shaped by hand from polystyrene (every piece takes an artisan more than 8 hours), so no two are exactly alike, which is the wabi-sabi idea at the heart of Japandi. Lit, it glows like a small cloud; unlit, it is a quiet white form that does not fight with wood and linen. The 1.5 m cord adjusts, and it works on sloped ceilings.

Good to know before you buy

  • Bulb: takes any standard dimmable bulb (not included); warm white 2700-3000K looks best.
  • Cord: 1.5 m, can be shortened; an extension is sold separately.
  • Installation: hardwired, 4.5" ceiling base included; about 15 minutes to replace an existing pendant.
  • Care: dust with a soft dry cloth; no cleaning products.
