Japandi Tatami Bed

Why we picked it

Most Japandi beds are either very low or very plain. This one sits close to the floor like a traditional tatami frame, but the side panels extend past the headboard and work as two built-in nightstands, so you do not need extra bedside tables. The padded headboard has vertical channels that soften the clean wood lines, which is exactly the mix of Japanese calm and Scandinavian comfort that defines the style. It comes in Natural Oak, Walnut and Gray, and in Queen, King and California King.

Good to know before you buy

  • No box spring needed: a slat kit (14 slats with 3 center support legs) is included.
  • Weight capacity: up to 440 lb.
  • Materials: solid and manufactured rubberwood frame, polyester upholstered headboard.
  • Assembly: full assembly is required, and the bed weighs about 248 lb, so plan for two people.
  • Warranty: 1-year limited warranty from the seller.

What buyers like: the look, the solid feel and the straightforward setup. What to consider: it is a low bed; some buyers love it, others find it harder to get in and out of. If you have knee or back problems, a taller frame may suit you better.
